On October 6, 2011, around 3:20 p.m., investigators with the SPVM's major crimes division arrested Samuel Jean-Baptiste in an apartment in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville sector of Montréal. He was allegedly involved in a double murder committed on August 2, 2010 in an apartment on boulevard Décarie in Montréal. In April 2011, two of his accomplices were arrested and a Canada-wide arrest warrant was issued against him. Investigators acted on a tip from the public to finally arrest the fugitive.

Samuel Jean-Baptiste appeared in court on October 7, 2011, on two charges of second degree murder.
